Transparency matters

A well established system of the Public Service Commission has been working in all provinces of Pakistan, These semi-autonomous commission works under the most efficient officers from bureaucracy. However, the Khyber Pakthunkhwan Public Service Commission’s vague policies have raised many eyebrows. In August, a screening test of the KPPSC was advertised for the post of the Provincial Management Services (PMS). The result of the test was declared after two months. As per the notification, present on the KPPSC website, 2,990 students were shortlisted for the written phase, expected to be conducted in Decemeber 2016.

However, what was astonishing was the fact that a new notification on the KPPSC government declared that all those candidates who managed to get 40 percent marks in the screening test were allowed for the written examination. This clearly violates the policy of 50 candidates per post. With written examination around the corner, this has totally shattered the faith of many aspirants. This clear and lucid violation of prescribed rules has forced us to think about the credibility of the KPPSC.
