Skills training completed

National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) Executive Director Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema has said there is a huge demand of skilled workers in various fields in the country and abroad.
Speaking at a prize-distribution ceremony of skills competition among students who completed their training under Prime Minister Youth Skills Development Programme here on Sunday, he said that the future skilled workforce would earn more than doctors and engineers and no one would remain unemployed.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of industrialists, elected representatives and heads of different training institutes of Punjab.
Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema said similar skills competition would be held all over the country at the provincial level next month and first prize at the provincial level would be Rs 75,000.
He also said from the year 2017, NAVTTC would start training 100,000 individuals per year, adding that after successfully completing the training, the skilled workers would be able to get interest-free loans under the Prime Minister Youth Loan Scheme.
Honoured: Punjab University Department of Zoology Associate Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal has been awarded a certificate of excellence, third position, on presentation of his poster entitled “Are Imported Ornamental Fishes Potential Risks of Zoonotic Infection in Pakistan” at the Second International Conference on Zoonoses, 2016, held at Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan.
A jury of four judges/professors from China, Turkey, New Zealand and Bangladesh evaluated all 25 posters displayed and selected top three posters for award of certificates of excellence. According to jury members, the topic of Dr Zafar’s poster was unique among all the posters. The poster was beautifully designed and colour combination was attractive.
