HARIPUR: The court of Additional Sessions Judge-V Haripur has ordered registration of a case against the police officials involved in the famous Pipal Maira case.

The petitioner, Jamal Din of Pipal Maira Khoee Nara, through his counsel Advocate Jawad Habib, stated that on July 29 when there was a marriage ceremony of his granddaughter, two policemen entered his house without warrants in search of one Bilal. He alleged the police officials did not come with female police personnel, and when people raised objection, the policemen got angry and called for reinforcement.

A police party headed by Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Nawaz reached there and started aerial firing, detained bridegroom and bride along with other guests. He also accused the local police of taking away his two vehicles, a buffalo, gold ornaments and four goats, besides damaging household articles.

After hearing both sides, the court ordered the Khanpur Police Station SHO to register the case against the police officials involved in the commission of the cognisable offence and thereafter investigate the case in accordance with law.

Meanwhile, through a written statement to the petition, the SHO Khanpur denied the charges of detaining bridegroom and bride, taking away gold ornaments or buffalo or damaging the household articles. He, however, admitted that the police took away two vehicles as case property and four goats to protect them from theft as the accused party fled the village, leaving their houses open.
