Huge cache of weapons seized in Orangi shop raid

Paramilitary soldiers seized a huge cache of weapons in a shop raid in Orangi Town on Wednesday, and their spokesman said criminals wanted to use the arms to create unrest in the city.

The spokesman for the Sindh Rangers, which has been spearheading a targeted crackdown on terrorists, target killers, kidnappers and extortionists in September 2013, said that soldiers conducted an intelligence-based operation near a sector office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and discovered a huge cache of weapons and ammunition.

The weapons and ammunition, which were said to have been hidden in secret cavities at a shop that was next to the office, included three submachine guns, three 8mm rifles, four 7mm rifles, a 22-bore rifle, a 30-bore rifle, a 30-bore mouser, a 12-bore repeater, three 30-bore pistols, two 32-bore pistols, 10 RPG-7 rockets, 12 RPG-7 Premier rockets, 1840 G-3 bullets, 12,960 bullets of SMGs, 8,250 bullets of the LMG, 34 rounds of the 22-bore rifle, 48 shells of the 12-bore rifle.
