UoP scholar defends PhD thesis on Hamza Baba

PESHAWAR: Pashto poet and scholar Kalim Shinwari has successfully defended his doctorate thesis on Sufi thoughts of Ameer Hamza Khan Shinwari, popularly known as Baba-e-Pashto Ghazal.

The event was arranged under the auspices of Pashto Department, University of Peshawar (UoP).

Pashto poets, writers, research scholars, students and teachers attended the function.

Professor Abdul Waheed Khan, chairman Pashto Department was the chief guest.

Kalim Shinwari described salient features and main points of the thesis.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, earlier, about six scholars had completed their research theses on various aspects of the life of Hamza Baba.

Kalim Shinwari, who is also grandson of the legendary Sufi Pashto poet Hamza Baba, answered questions raised by the audience regarding Sufi thoughts and poetry of Hamza Baba.
