PESHAWAR: Two Pakistanis were among five killed in a US drone attack in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, an official said on Sunday.
“The drone targeted a vehicle in the Chaknor area in Lalpura district, leaving five anti-government gunmen dead,” Nangarhar police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal told the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP).
Two of them were identified as Zahoor and Ishaq, he claimed, adding they were residents of Mohmand Agency in Pakistan. The other three were Afghan nationals. Apparently, the five were militants.
In a separate incident, he said a clash erupted between two groups of armed opponents in the Gurguri area in Deh Bala district. He said 11 persons were killed and 24 more injured in the gunfight.
Mashriqiwal did not name the groups. However, sources told the AIP that the gunfight erupted between the Taliban and Islamic State fighters.
