Brother of Balochistan MPA shot dead in Panjgur
QUETTA: The younger brother of National Party leader and Member of the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Rahmat Saleh Baloch, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Panjgur’s Chitkan area on Sunday.
According to police sources, the victim, Waleed Saleh, was ambushed while returning home. The attackers, riding two motorcycles, unleashed a volley of bullets at his vehicle, resulting in his death on the spot. After completing legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family. Police officials said that a comprehensive investigation into the tragic incident has been initiated.
Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned what he termed the “brutal and cowardly killing” of Waleed Saleh, describing it as a calculated attempt to disturb the hard-earned peace of the province. The chief minister sought a detailed report from the authorities and expressed profound grief over the loss of life.
He directed law enforcement agencies to apprehend those involved at the earliest and ensure that they receive exemplary punishment under the law. “Such cowardly acts cannot shake the determination and unity of the people of Balochistan,” Bugti said, assuring the bereaved family of full government support and a firm commitment to ensuring justice.
Senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and provincial lawmaker Haji Ali Madad Jatak also denounced the killing, terming it a “tragic and alarming incident” that threatens the overall peace and stability of the province. He said that politically or tribally motivated killings were deeply regrettable and appeared to be part of a broader conspiracy to undermine harmony in Balochistan.
Jatak urged the provincial government and law enforcement institutions to identify and arrest the culprits without delay and ensure they face the severest punishment as a deterrent against future violence. He extended heartfelt condolences to the grieving family and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul.
Provincial Adviser on Women Development Dr. Rubaba Khan Buledi expressed deep sorrow and condemned the incident, saying it had cast a pall of grief over the entire province. She reaffirmed that the government stands in solidarity with the bereaved family during this difficult time and prayed for courage and strength for them to bear the irreparable loss.
