Pakistan-Windies T20 series from tomorrow
LAHORE: With the sting of a 2-1 series defeat against Bangladesh still fresh, Pakistan’s national cricket team has landed in Lauderhill, Florida, ready to regroup for a crucial three-match T20I series against the West Indies, beginning on Friday (tomorrow) at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium.
The squad arrived earlier this week and immediately turned to seaside recovery sessions, blending fitness drills with mental rejuvenation. The players participated in fielding routines, net practice, and skill-specific training, aiming to sharpen their execution and rebuild momentum.
Led by Salman Ali Agha, the T20I squad features a mix of experience and emerging talent, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Saim Ayub, and Sahibzada Farhan. The team’s morale may be tested, but the return of key pacers and a focused training regime suggest a renewed intent.
Both teams enter the series with recent setbacks—Pakistan from their Bangladesh loss, and West Indies reeling from a 5-0 defeat against Australia. With the Asia Cup 2025 and T20 World Cup 2026 on the horizon, this series offers a vital opportunity for Pakistan to fine-tune its combinations and regain confidence.
T20I squad: Salman Ali Agha (capt), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan (wk), Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Sufyan Moqim.
