Green art skills

Across the world, art is proving itself an engine for environmentally friendly markets. Ignoring these examples means ignoring the potential of thousands of creative, job-hungry Pakistani youth. Embedding green skills in art education gives our young people new pathways, eco-friendly architecture, green product design, upcycling industries and community environmental art projects. These sectors are growing globally, while Pakistan lags behind.
Some argue art has no link to practical employment. Others say green skills belong only in science or engineering. Both views are short-sighted. I urge policymakers and civil society to reform art education, building green skills into its foundation.
