PCB chief meets FIFA president
LAHORE: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in a significant step towards fostering international sports collaboration met FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Washington.
The two officials discussed the evolving landscape of sports in Pakistan, with a particular emphasis on the growing popularity of football among the nation’s youth.
Naqvi shared the details of the meeting in a post on X, describing the interaction as “excellent” and highlighting football’s rise in prominence following cricket’s dominance in Pakistan. He revealed that he extended a “warm invitation” to Infantino to visit the country—an offer that the FIFA chief graciously accepted, promising a visit in the near future.
“Football is gaining remarkable traction, especially in urban areas where a passionate fanbase continues to grow,” Naqvi noted.
