Rs85 billion for transport sector
LAHORE:The Punjab government has allocated Rs85 billion for transport sector with a focus on establishment and induction of eco-friendly busses and infrastructure for the year 2025-26.
Some 20 ongoing and 34 new schemes will be completed for which Rs4.569 billion and Rs80.430 billion were allocated, respectively.The new schemes included establishment of new vehicle testing lab under the administrative control of Punjab Road Safety Authority, development of
urban bus depot & allied infrastructure for electric buses in Lahore under Punjab Clean Air Programme (P-CAP) by World Bank, up-gradation of existing bus stands in Punjab, establishment of new bus stands, strengthening of Regional Transport Authorities, Punjab Digital Transport Governance, induction of eco-friendly buses in Gujrat, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur divisions.
