HYDERABAD: Three unidentified armed culprits on Sunday shot dead a 50-year-old man said to be associated with a religious organisation in the Phulkara Road area of Matli town in Badin district.

The man was injured after he was shot. He was shifted to the Taluka Hospital Matli in a critical state where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as Razaullah Nizamani.

According to Badin SSP Qamar Raza Jiskani, the victim had gone to a barber in Matli town on Sunday afternoon. After getting a haircut, he was walking on a road when the armed men shot him from behind. He was shot twice.

The SSP said the two bullets hit the victim’s abdomen, damaging the area between the heart and lungs, which led to his death. The officer added that Nizamani had filed a report a week earlier stating security threats to him, after which he was provided with two police personnel.

On Sunday, one of the security personnel was with him, but at the time of the attack, the victim had sent the constable to buy fruits for him. Following the targeted attack, the investigators visited the crime scene, graveyard and Nizamani’s village Malan. The SSP said police would soon arrest the culprits.

Sindh Pakistan Markazi Muslim League President Faisal Nadeem, spoke to the media after the funeral prayers and burial. He stated that Nizamani was affiliated with their organisation andserved as the vice president of Matli taluka. He added that the victim was unjustly targeted.
