Fan Tan Cup main event in today’s Lahore races

LAHORE: The 38th day of the Lahore Race Club’s winter meeting for the 2024-25 season is set to unfold this Sunday (today) evening, featuring The Fan Tan Cup as the main event alongside a series of five May Plate races.

According to the official acceptances and order of running, the day’s racing action will commence around 6:30 PM with the plate races preceding the cup competition.

The opening contest, The May Plate for Class-VII, Division-VI & VII horses over approximately 900 meters, sees Leo Star as the favourite, with Land Cruiser tipped for a place and I Shall Lead as a potential fluke. The remaining contenders in this race include Jalal Prince, My Luck, Shan-e-Sultan, Daisy Macs, SG Princess, Timmy, Majesty, Barrister, Deep Impact, Elon Musk, and Flokey.

The second race of the day is another May Plate for Class-VII, Division-VI & VII horses over the same 900-meter distance, where Mumraiz Love is the favourite, Awais Prince is considered a strong place contender, and Sky Warrior is the touted fluke. The other horses competing in this event are Anni Power, Raftar, Mr. Asia, American Star, Thunder Prince (KRC), Noon Princess, and Al Karam.

The third race, a May Plate for Class-VII, Division-V & VI over approximately 900 meters, has Little Master as the favourite, Zaman Sahib as the place selection, and Rayaan Prince as the potential fluke. The rest of the field comprises Mafnood JR, Self Belief, Pocket Power, Lucky Macs, Dur-e-Adan, Thunder Man (KRC), Naveed-e-Sahar, and Jahanbaz. The fourth race is a May Plate for Class-VII, Division-III horses over approximately 900 meters, with Rakaposhi installed as the favourite, Deep Seek expected to place, and Thunder Boy (Krc) considered a fluke. The other participants in this race are Taj Mahal, Great One, Qalandar, and Zaid Prince.

The fifth May Plate race of the day is for horses in the Class-VII, Division-I & II category over approximately 900 meters, where Desert Crown is the favourite, Wynx is the place selection, and Sultan Prince is the potential fluke. The remaining runners in this race are Black Tiger, Son of Sultan, and Elizabeth. The day’s racing will culminate with The Fan Tan Cup for Class-V horses over approximately 1000 meters, where Tiete is the favourite, Melisende is tipped for a place, Suicide Blonde is the predicted fluke, and Marquises completes the field.
