A fire weather watch has been issued for large parts of North Texas as weather conditions expected on Sunday could increase the risk of rapidly spreading wildfires.

The alert was issued by the National Weather Service in Fort Worth early Saturday morning and will remain in effect from noon until 9:00 PM on Sunday.

The watch covers multiple counties across the region including Wise, Denton, Parker, Tarrant, Dallas, Hood, Johnson, Montague, Cooke, Young, Jack, Stephens, Palo Pinto, Eastland, Erath, Somervell, Ellis, Comanche, Mills, Hamilton, Bosque, Hill, Lampasas, Coryell, Bell, McLennan, Falls and Milam.

Forecasters say strong winds and dry air are expected to create dangerous fire conditions.

The National Weather Service said winds could reach between 25 and 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour and relative humidity levels are expected to remain between 15 and 25 per cent.

"Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended," the National Weather Service said in the advisory.

Officials are urging residents to monitor weather updates and follow any further warnings that may be issued.

Authorities may upgrade the watch to a red flag warning if conditions worsen.
