KARACHI: The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) on Sunday praised the country’s armed forces for their role in what it described as a successful defence effort following recent aggression, and highlighted the contributions of engineers in underpinning the nation’s defence infrastructure.
In a statement, PEC Chairperson Engr Waseem Nazir said the military’s performance reflected years of coordinated planning and a foundation of technical and engineering strength.“This victory was not achieved overnight. It is the product of years of coordinated effort -- where military professionalism, political resolve and engineering excellence intersect,” Nazir said.
He noted that engineering capabilities played a critical role in areas including civil and military infrastructure, communications, weapons systems and logistics.Nazir added that the council is aligning its national programmes -- including the Balochistan Action Plan 2025, Smart PEC digital reforms, and the Brain Gain diaspora portal -- with the aim of equipping future engineers to contribute both during peace and in times of conflict.
The PEC also underscored the importance of international strategic collaborations, which it said are vital for adapting and deploying advanced technologies in national defence. The council reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining engineering excellence as a key pillar of national sovereignty.
