PESHAWAR: The Taliban on Sunday confirmed that their ‘shadow governor’ for Nangarhar Maulvi Mir Ahmad Gul Hashimi had been killed.
Through a statement sent to the Afghan Islamic Press (AIP), Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that Taliban leadership council expressed deep grief over his killing. Terming his killing a great loss, the Taliban offered condolences to his family and friends. The press release did not disclose the exact location where Maulvi Mir Ahmad Gul Hashimi was killed.
However, Taliban sources told the AIP that unidentified people had killed him in Peshawar. The Taliban spokesman said Maulvi Mir Ahmad spent several years of his life in prison “for moving on the right path”.
