‘Govt ensuring availability of free medicines to patients in hospitals’
PAKPATTAN: Federal Minister for Poverty and Social Protection Pir Syed Imran Ahmad Shah Wali has said that the problems being faced by two major hospitals of Sahiwal are being solved on priority basis so that the poor patients can get the best treatment facilities.
The present government is also ensuring the availability of free medicines to the patients in all hospitals for which the shortage of resources is not allowed. There is a need that the doctors and paramedical staff should serve the patients not only as a job, but also as religious and social responsibility. He said this during a detailed visit to the Sahiwal Teaching Hospital and the Haji Abdul Qayyum DHQ Hospital in which he reviewed the medical facilities in these hospitals. He also met the patients in various wards and distributed Eid gifts among them.
Principal Sahiwal Medical College Prof Dr Muhammad Imran Hassan Khan, Medical Superintendent Dr Nisar Ahmad Saeedi and heads of various departments were also present on the occasion.
FEDERAL OMBUDSMAN’S REGIONAL OFFICE: Federal Ombudsman Ijaz Ahmed Qureshi said that providing immediate relief to the people is the main duty of the Federal Ombudsman.
He said that restoring the trust of the people is essential for good governance. He expressed these views while inaugurating the Federal Ombudsman’s Regional Office in Sahiwal. He said that public complaints would be heard against all federal government departments, including SNGPL, Mepco, Lesco, Railways, FIA, Customs, NADRA, Passport and EOBI. He said that 25 regional offices had been set up across the country. He added that the establishment of the Regional Offices would give easy excess in remote areas. He said that the Federal Ombudsman delivered relief to more than 226,000 complainants in 2024. He said that the Federal Ombudsman’s organisation restored the public’s confidence in the government.
Regional Advisor Inayatullah Dulha said that the Regional Office would play an important role in solving the public issues of the Sahiwal division. Federal Ombudsman Ijaz Ahmed Qureshi also met a delegation of civil society, Sahiwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, lawyers and journalists and briefed on the purpose of establishing a Regional Office. Commissioner Sahiwal Division Shoaib Iqbal Syed and others were also present.
