6,700 personnel to perform security duty during PSL matches
A comprehensive security is in place for the PSL-10 matches to be played in Karachi, for which 6,700 personnel will be deployed for security duty.
Officials said the plan has been put in place to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the Pakistan Super League 10 matches to be played in National Bank Cricket Stadium, Karachi, starting on April 11.
A total of 6,700 police personnel will be assigned to perform security duties across multiple locations during the highly anticipated matches. DIG Maqsood Ahmed, chief Security Division, said that according to the plan, 1666 personnel from the Security Division, including 950 Special Security Unit (SSU) commandos and lady commandos, along with 1,390 officers from the Traffic Police, 328 personnel from the Special Branch and district police personnel, will perform duties in close coordination with other law enforcement agencies for smooth security at Karachi’s airport, routes leading to the stadium, hotels, and other key locations.
To further ensure safety, sharpshooters have been deployed at sensitive points around the stadium. Additionally, a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, comprising highly trained commandos, will remain on high alert at the SSU Headquarters. This team will patrol the surrounding areas of the stadium as a quick-response force to handle any emergency situations that may arise.
The SSU’s specialized command and control bus will be stationed at the stadium, monitoring the law and order situation in the vicinity. The security plan also emphasizes strict regulations, including a ban on CNG-fitted vehicles and drones within the stadium premises to prevent any security breaches.
The authorities are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for players, officials, and spectators during the PSL-10 matches in Karachi. Spectators are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and follow all security protocols to ensure a successful and enjoyable event. To facilitate a smooth and secure experience for all attendees, the following guidelines have been issued;
