An anti-terrorism court on Friday allowed the investigating officer to interrogate Kamran Asghar Qureshi, father of prime suspect Armaghan in the Mustafa Amir murder case, in connection with an illegal arms case against his son.
IO Muhammad Ali of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) moved an application before the ATC-IV judge seeking Kamran's physical remand for interrogation. He said the suspect, who was already confined at District Malir Jail in two cases pertaining to charges of recovery of drugs and an unlicensed pistol, had also been booked in one of the cases lodged against his son over possession of illicit arms.
He informed the court that an analysis of Kamran's mobile phone revealed that he had bought his son weapons from Peshawar. The IO, therefore, requested the judge to grant his custody to the AVCC for interrogation in this case.
The judge permitted the IO to interrogate the suspect inside the jail for two days after Eidul Fitr from April 6 to April 7. He directed the superintendent of the Malir jail to allow access to the IO to question the suspect.
On March 23, a judicial magistrate had sent Kamran to prison on judicial remand in two cases pertaining to the alleged recovery of drugs and an unlicensed pistol from his possession.
