US diplomat lauds modern traffic licensing system
Rawalpindi:A senior diplomat from the United States Embassy in Pakistan, Natalie A. Baker, visited the Traffic Headquarters Race Course in Rawalpindi at the special invitation of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Benish Fatima. The visit was attended by other members of the American delegation.
Upon arrival, Baker was warmly welcomed by City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Syed Khalid Hamdani, and CTO Benish Fatima, who presented her with a bouquet. During the visit, Baker, accompanied by the CPO and CTO, inspected the One Window Licensing Hall. The Chief Traffic Officer provided a detailed briefing on the modern and transparent procedures implemented for obtaining a driving license.
Expressing her appreciation for the system, the US diplomat praised its efficiency and transparency. She was then taken to the driving training simulator, where she was briefed on the various training stages and the use of modern technology. Baker commended the initiative, describing it as a significant step in enhancing public convenience and road safety.
Later, she visited the driving testing track and traffic mess, where she was given an overview of the driving test procedures and the welfare measures implemented for traffic police personnel. She expressed satisfaction with the advanced facilities and fair procedures in place.
At the traffic auditorium, CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani provided a comprehensive briefing on the overall performance of Rawalpindi Police, security measures, and crime prevention efforts. Baker acknowledged the police department’s efforts, describing them as a positive step toward public service improvement.
During the visit, the CTO also highlighted the responsibilities and challenges faced by the traffic police, as well as the strategies adopted to maintain smooth traffic flow. She explained how modern technology, effective policies, and dedicated personnel contribute to providing better traffic management services to citizens. The US diplomat also reviewed the advanced gadgets and road safety equipment used by the traffic police.
At the conclusion of the visit, the CPO and CTO presented a commemorative shield to Natalie A. Baker. In response, she expressed her gratitude to the City Traffic Police and Rawalpindi
Police for the warm welcome and commended their efforts in modernizing traffic management.
