Woman among two drug peddlers arrested
LAHORE:In two separate intelligence-based operations, Lahore Police thwarted major drug supply attempts, arresting a man disguised as a woman and a notorious female drug dealer.
In the first incident, Nishtar Colony Police arrested a drug dealer who was disguising himself in a Burqa to transport narcotics. The suspect, identified as Atta-ur-Rehman, was caught in the Sofia Abad area during routine patrolling. Police recovered 10 kilograms of hashish from his possession and also seized the vehicle he was using for smuggling.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to bringing drugs from Peshawar to Lahore. A case has been registered, and further investigations are under way. Meanwhile, in another operation led by ASP Defence Shehrbano Naqvi, the Super Town Police team arrested an inter-district female drug dealer, Tahira Bibi, red-handed while she was attempting to deliver a large quantity of narcotics. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted the suspect and recovered over 12 kilograms of hashish worth millions of rupees. According to SP Cantt Owais Shafiq, Tahira Bibi admitted to smuggling drugs from Peshawar through online networks and distributing them across multiple districts. He confirmed that police are conducting further intelligence-based operations to apprehend her accomplices.
SP Cantt announced commendation certificates for Chowki Incharge Super Town M Asif and his team for their swift action. He urged citizens to support Lahore Police in their mission to eradicate drug trafficking from the city. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to dismantling drug networks and have assured the public that the operations against narcotics smugglers will continue with full force.
Man hit to death by train
A 55-year-old man lost his life after being hit by a train while crossing the railway tracks in Husnainabad, near Ghalib Market. According to the Edhi Information Bureau Lahore, the man was attempting to cross the railway line when he was struck by a passing train. Rescue teams and police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased. Following legal formalities, the body was shifted to the morgue by an Edhi ambulance. Police are working to establish the victim’s identity and locate his family. Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
