18 ETPB projects aim at billions of rupees revenue

ISLAMABAD: The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) has approved 18 development projects in Lahore, Karachi and Faisalabad zones. These projects will generate billions of rupees in revenue for the department.

The approval was given in a meeting of the Board under the chairmanship of ETPB Dr Syed Atta-ur-Rehman. The Board will give 18 urban properties on a 30-year lease through open auction which will save valuable urban land from encroachment mafia. The Board approved a master plan for maintenance and rehabilitation of places of worship of minorities, including Kartarpur Corridor, Nankana Sahib, Sadhu Mela and Katas Raj Temple.

The Board decided to carry out renovation and development work on ancient Hindu temple, Hinglaj Mata Mandar, under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Balochistan government and ETPB for protection of minority places of worship and promotion of religious tourism.

The beauty of Sadhu Bela Temple and Katas Raj Temple will be enhanced under the master plan.

The Board approved establishment of a 25-acre community centre in Nankana Sahib and the agenda item for development of Agarwal Ashram.

The Board members emphasised the need to get occupied Trust property retrieved as soon as possible. It decided to protect Trust’s property in DHA Lahore and to ask the public through advertisements to refrain from illegal buying and selling.

The Board approved granting of 716 barren agricultural lots in Faisalabad on a 30-year lease and various development agendas to increase revenue. The Board also okayed creation of a secured capital of Rs5 billion. The Board approved immediate hiring of chief engineer under the principle of self-development. It will enable the Board to start construction activities on its own on the lines of Evacuation Trust Tower and GT Tower.
