Cop kidnapped in Tank

TANK: Armed men kidnapped a cop from near the Gomal Zam Dam canal on the Tank-Wana highway on Wednesday.

Police sources said that unidentified armed men kidnapped Samiullah Khan from the Qila Jatta area and took him to an undisclosed location. Samiullah was on his way to resume duty at the Gomal Bazaar Police Station after spending his leave at home. The assailants intercepted a private passenger pickup near the Gomal Zam Dam canal, forcibly removed the officer, and took him away.

District Police Officer (DPO) Aslam Nawaz Khan said that a heavy contingent of police had reached the crime scene and sealed off the area. A search operation has been launched to recover the abducted cop as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, unknown gunmen kidnapped and killed tribal elder Malak Arzi Khan Betani in the Chesan Kach area of Tank district. According to family sources, he was abducted from Kari Umar Khan village a day earlier.
