Dog plunges over cliff edge: What happened next?
Emergency crews have also issued a warning to dog owners regarding their pets
Emergency crews in Cornwall faced a unique challenge: rescuing a dog plunging from a steep cliff.
It was a daring mission.
According to Cornwall Live, the dramatic incident happened at Kely Head on Thursday.
Emergency calls were made to the rescue authorities about a dog that had fallen.
A string of rescue teams, including Newquay, St. Agnes, and the RNLI, dashed to the scene.
Newquay and St Agnes coastguard teams immediately dashed to the scene.
The dog, who was injured, was stranded below the cliff. A risky rope operation then was launched.
Sharing key details of the rescue, the Newquay Coastguard Search and Rescue Team wrote, "This afternoon at 12:14pm, the Newquay Coastguard Rescue Team, St. Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue Team, Newquay RNLI Lifeboats, and Holywell Bay Lifeguards were tasked to reports of a dog over the cliff at Kelsey Head."
"Once the dog had been located, with the lifeboat standing by offshore, a technical rope rescue was rigged up, and a technician was lowered down to the dog's location," the post read on Facebook.
Ultimately, the dog and its owner were reunited by the rescue team.
"Although injured, the dog successfully recovered back to the top of the cliff before being reunited with its owner."
"The team assisted them back to their vehicle and onward for veterinary care. We wish them a swift recovery."
In a fresh warning, the statement urged dog owners to keep pets on lead.
"We would like to remind people to please keep their dogs on the lead while on the coast path, no matter how well behaved they normally are."
