Two-day Bajaur festival begins tomorrow

PESHAWAR: Adviser to Chief Minister on Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums Zahid Chanzeb on Thursday said that cultural and tourism activities were being initiated in the merged districts to engage the youth in healthy activities.

“Promoting tourism and developing new tourist sites in these districts is among the top priorities,” he said in a statement.He said that a two-day festival was being organised from December 28-29 at the Bajaur Sports Complex in Khar.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), the KPCTA-Merged Districts Wing, the Bajaur district administration, and the Bajaur Scouts are jointly organizing the gala.The Bajaur Festival would showcase cycling races, martial arts competitions, kabaddi matches, and school children’s tableaus. There will be a play area for children, comedy skits, poetry recitations, traditional Attanr dances, musical performances and food stalls are also part of the festival.

The purpose of the Bajaur Festival is to promote sports and healthy activities, boost tourism, involve youth in positive engagements, and present a positive image of the province to the world.

The KPCTA along with its Tourism Merged Districts Wing has previously organized various activities in the merged districts. These included events in Khyber, Orakzai, Wana, Tank and Waziristan, where not only sports activities were successfully conducted, but steps were also taken to promote tourism in these areas.
