ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi has called a meeting of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan on December 6 to constitute a constitutional bench to hear petitions relating to military trials of civilians involved in May 9, 2023, terrorism and arson cases.

Sources said on Saturday the commission would consider the appointment of Justice Shahid Bilal to the constitutional bench. The constitutional bench had approached the commission for the nomination of a new judge in place of Justice Ayesha A Malik. The commission will also consider nominations for appointments of additional judges to the Peshawar and Sindh high courts.
