TOBA TEK SINGH: A drug addict, who wounded an ASI during a police raid on Tuesday, was killed in an alleged encounter with Sadr police on Wednesday.
According to a police spokesperson, a police party signaled two motorcyclists to stop on Khumanawala Road near Sem nullah, but they ignored the police and fled towards Chak 331/JB, Athwal bypass. They opened fire on police when they were being chased and the firing was retaliated. When the firing subsided one accused identified as Zahid Javed was found in wounded condition. He died on way to hospital. The police claimed he was wounded due to bullets fired by his accomplices. Accused Zahid of Chak 289/JB had opened fire on ASI M Nasir Bajwa when police raided his house to arrest him.
