The South Zone police have intensified their investigation into an incident in which foreign nationals were robbed in Karachi on Sunday.
Crucial information has been gathered from the affected individuals, leading to significant developments in the case.
The four Polish nationals were shown photographs and sketches of over 10 suspects, and they identified two individuals. The search for these suspects is currently ongoing, and the Karachi police are also coordinating with the Islamabad police to facilitate the suspects' apprehension. Both the suspects are alleged to have had a history of involvement in similar crimes, with previous incidents reported in Islamabad and Karachi.
The Polish citizens were staying in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority and had not secured formal protection from the Foreigners Security Cell. CCTV footage suggested the suspects accessed Defence via the Kala Pul route.
The robbers, disguised in police uniforms, targeted the tourists, who had just arrived in the city on Sunday. The tourists were robbed of $1,080 near Khayaban-e-Mujahid while on their way to Dolmen Mall in Clifton to purchase mobile phone SIMs.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the additional inspector general of Karachi police.
