PHC stops arrest of Mohsin Dawar
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday stopped the authorities from arresting National Democratic Movement (NDM) Chairman Mohsin Dawar till January 15, 2025 in the cases registered against him.
The two-member bench, comprising Chief Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Wiqar Ahmad, directed the petitioner, a former member of the National Assembly, to appear in the relevant courts to seek relief allowed to him under the law.
Sangeen Khan appeared for the petitioner. He told the court that various cases were registered against his client in various areas, but he did not know their exact number. He sought the details of the cases.
The KP and federal government officials told the court that the cases registered against the NDM chief stood at 17, adding that these contained anti-terrorism sections as well. The counsel for the petitioner said his client wanted to appear in the courts himself and hence directives should be issued to stop his arrest in these cases.
