Stephen Colbert has shared in detail what he would do after the end of his late-night show.

For those unaware, CBS cancelled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in July 2025, citing significant financial pressure and the sudden decline in the late-night viewing landscape, even though the show was winning the ratings race.

Colbert chatted with PEOPLE magazine for its cover story, where he opened up about his plans after the show’s cancellation.

He told the outlet, "I'm going to my brother's wedding in Washington D.C. My [eight] brothers and sisters and [their] husbands and wives are coming to the last show, and then we're all getting on the train the next day and going down to D.C. to go to Tommy's wedding."

The Dana Carvey Show alum went on to admit that he is satisfied with how things unfolded, quipping, "It's great, I love it.”

As his focus will be on his personal life and family, especially his younger brother Tommy, Colbert, along with his clan, “will get drunk and we'll sing. We all think we have good voices. That's the great danger of our family, especially the men. It'll be great."

In addition to Tommy’s wedding, the 62-year-old American comedian and writer will celebrate his son John Colbert’s graduation from college.

"I'm glad a lot of the week is not about me, [it's about] people I love more than I love me — and I'm a big fan of me,” Stephen Colbert noted.

It is pertinent to mention that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will air its last episode on May 21, 2026, completing its 11-season run on CBS.
