Russia offers to help resolve US-Iran war amid renewed diplomacy
Russia has maintained close ties with Iran throughout the conflict while also positioning itself as a possible diplomatic intermediary
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told the country’s TASS state news agency that Moscow was willing to support talks but would not force its involvement.
Ryabkov said in the interview with the news agency that “Russia is ready to provide all possible assistance in resolving this conflict, which is well known to its parties.”
“At the same time, we have never imposed and do not intend to impose our services. But in the event of an appropriate request, we will extend a helping hand,” he said, adding that Russia remained “committed to finding solutions exclusively through political and diplomatic channels”.
The comments come as Washington and Tehran attempt to revive negotiations after months of heightened regional tensions and military threats.
Ryabkov also welcomed recent diplomatic activity between the two sides and highlighted the involvement of Pakistan in easing tensions.
He noted the “active role of the Pakistani side in stabilising the situation and creating conditions for moving towards a lasting peace”.
Russia has maintained close ties with Iran throughout the conflict while also positioning itself as a possible diplomatic intermediary in wider Middle East negotiations.
