What is the Lindsay Clancy 'copycat' theory?

The trial of Lindsay Clancy drew attention across the U.S. and sharply divided Americans.

Amid the much attention, a somewhat similar case took place in Illinois.

A mom allegedly killed her son, named Barrett 'Bear' Walsh, saying that he was a devil.

What's interesting is that the woman, Corie Walsh, has reportedly been deeply involved in Clancy's case.

Even so, she has been a part of a group on social media where discussions on the trial took place, and before the killing of Bear, Walsh has been active there.

Now, among others, the prosecution has argued that her case appears to be an alleged copycat of Clancy.

The line of reasoning is this: Walsh has been reportedly knee-deep in the developments of the high-profile case of the mom-of-three.

Not to mention, she discussed the trial before the murder and killing her kid on ostensibly similar grounds, suggesting Clancy's case somehow influenced her.

However, the Walsh defense team has pushed back on the 'copycat' theory.

Andrea Lyon, who is her attorney, said, "Media attention around the Clancy trial 'just happened to coincide with Corie's psychosis.'"

Meanwhile, the Clancy case has been declared a mistrial, and a hearing is set for September 29.
