NMIP Act to be amended: Experience for post of head to be reduced and word cadre to be removed
It has been proposed to reduce experience for post of NMIP director general from 15 years to 5 years
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Science and Technology has decided to amend the Act of its subsidiary National Meteorological Institute of Pakistan (NMIP) and preparation in this regard has been started.
According to sources, it has been proposed to reduce the experience for the post of NMIP director general from 15 years to 5 years and also to delete the word Cadre.
Under the existing Act, candidates for the post of Director General would have 15 years of senior management experience and 5 years of meteorology.
According to sources, despite advertising three times for the post of director general, the institution has not been able to find a regular head in the last two years due to more senior management experience. Now the Ministry of Science and Technology has decided to reduce the senior management experience for the post of director general and the word “cadre” would also be removed to ensure the appointment of a regular head for the institution.
