Shehbaz, Bilawal agree to sort out Punjab issues
Sources say PM Shehbaz, PPP chief Bilawal meet in Islamabad to iron out differences
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, while agreeing to face the challenges together, Thursday decided to continue dialogue for the resolution of issues between the two coalition partners.
Both the leaders held a meeting in which the overall political situation of the country was discussed. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazir Tarar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah assisted the prime minister during the meeting. Besides Bilawal, the PPP delegation comprised Senator Sherry Rehman, Syed Naveed Qamar and former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
According to a press statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz vowed to work together with the allied parties.
According to sources, Shehbaz and Bilawal agreed to sort out the issues related to both coalition partners in Punjab with deciding to hold the meeting of coordination committees of PMLN and PPP on Sunday at the Governor House in Lahore.
The PPP chairman conveyed the party’s reservations on non-implementation of written agreement between the two parties to Shehbaz.
Sources said the government was going to introduce an important legislation in the next few days and took the PPP into confidence on it. It intends to summon the National Assembly session in next week, most likely on Monday.
Rehabilitation and relief activities for flood victims in Sindh were also considered in the meeting. Sources said the prime minister assured the delegation of full cooperation on the affairs of Sindh. Later in the Geo talk show ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath’, Rana Sanaullah said the meeting between Shehbaz and Bilawal was held in a cordial atmosphere in which many issues were resolved. He also confirmed that both the coalition partners would also hold a meeting on Sunday.
