A former police officer has been arrested for a firing incident in Quaidabad three days ago that resulted in the deaths of a police officer and a two-year-old child.

Malir SSP Kashif Abbasi and Korangi SSP Touheed Rehman Memon announced the arrest during a press conference on Sunday. They stated that on August 2, near the Landhi Railway Station within the jurisdiction of Qaidabad police station, two people, including a child, were killed, and as many others were injured due to gunfire.

The Malir SSP revealed that the suspect, Zafar Ali, son of Ali Asghar, had been arrested. He added that he was a retired court police officer.

The shooting incident, which claimed the life of Akram, another court police officer, was reportedly motivated by ‘honour’. Zafar’s firing also injured a child, Shahzaib, and two individuals, Sado and Iftikhar. Tragically, Shahzaib succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

The two injured individuals were friends of the suspect. The weapon used in the incident has also been seized from the suspect’s possession and sent for forensic analysis.

In response to a question, the Korangi SSP mentioned that a woman and a child’s tortured bodies were recently found in Korangi Industrial Area. However, their identities were yet to be ascertained.
