ISLAMABAD: Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen Pakistan Chairman Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas has alleged that the government and law-enforcement agencies have failed to establish peace in Parachinar despite losses of 12 lives and scores wounded.
Speaking to a news conference here, he said those forces were creating lawlessness in Parachinar, which needed war not peace, but peace-loving people lived in the Kurram region. “There are no arms factories and no drug bases in the region. Twelve people have been martyred and dozens injured in recent violent incidents in Parachinar, which is being attacked from all sides,” he lamented.
The provincial government and law-enforcement agencies, he charged, seemed to have failed in establishing peace and order in Parachinar, whereas the media was not showing the tense situation in the area. “We demand that the government stop this war without delay. The practical demonstration of Shia-Sunni unity in the region has been seen and appreciated by all in the elections 2024. We have raised 20,000 dead bodies for unity but never took up arms. We want complete peace in Parachinar,” he emphasised.
Engineer Hameed Hussain, a member of the National Assembly from Kurram district, said the district was burning in the fire of war. “I raise my voice in every session of parliament for peace in the region, but it seems as if no one is ready to listen. This war has been forced on the people of Kurram Agency,” he regretted. He made it clear that it was a blunt decision of the people of the region that any other force would not be allowed to come into Kurram Agency. For a piece of land, humans are being killed indiscriminately. Why is this war being waged?
