Madressah body, MYC reject SC verdict in Mubarak Sani case
MYC leaders said the apex court has tried to cover a lot of issues in one verdict
ISLAMABAD: Mili Yakjehti Council Pakistan (MYC) and Wafaqul Madaris-ul-Arabiya (WMA) have rejected the Supreme Court’s verdict in various review petitions in Mubarak Sani case.
At a meeting chaired by Dr Sahibzada Abul Khair, the MYC leaders said the apex court has tried to cover a lot of issues in one verdict. They said they expected an unambiguous verdict, but the verdict’s point number 42 has rendered the entire judgment controversial. They said the decision cannot be declared to be inconformity with the law and the constitution as well as Quran and Sunnah.
They contended that the Ahmadis, even if they admit to being non-Muslims, can deserve the basic rights given in the constitution, but they cannot preach their faith publicly or privately.
The meeting was held at the MYC head office at Jamia Naimiya Islamabad.
Those participating in the meeting were: MYC Secretary General Liaquat Baloch, Jamaat Ahle Haram Pakistan Central President Mufti Gulzar Ahmed Naeemi, MYC Central Vice President Syed Muhammad Safdar Shah Geelani, Shia Ulema Council Vice President Allama Arif Hussain Wahidi, Advocate Supreme Court Imran Shafiq, Saifullah Gondal Advocate, Razit Billah, Jamaat Ahle Hadith leader Hafiz Abdul Ghaffar Ropari,
Jamaat Ahle Haram Secretary General Dr. Muhammad Sher Sialvi, Allama Irfan Hussain Al-Basira, Israr Ahmed and others participated.
Separately, WMA’s Nazim-e-A’ala (chief administrator) Maulana Muhammad Hanif Jalundhari has said the SC verdict is against the constitution and Shariah as well as the ground realities. He said consultation with leading scholars, political leaders and constitutional experts was underway after which a final position would be announced.
