Israel accuses Iran of ‘intensifying’ cyberattacks after US-Israeli offensive
Iranian cyberattacks surged to 4,800 from 1,600 since the conflict, Israeli cyber chief says
Israel has accused Iran of intensifying cyberattacks against the country following the launch of US-Israeli offensive against Tehran in February, 2026.
In an interview with the German newspaper Die Welt, Yossi Karadi, Director General of Israel's National Cyber Directorate, reported that Israeli authorities recorded approximately 1,600 vicious cyber incidents in June 2025, coinciding with military operations against Iran.
In June 2026, the number surged, alleging the 4,800 cyber incidents waged by Iran, as reported by Reuters.
According to Karadi, most of the cyber attacks were intended to damage Israel’s central organizations, infrastructure, small to medium-sized firms and the public.
"Some groups are very skilled. We can handle them, but we have to take them seriously. Unlike in the kinetic realm, there's no ceasefire in cyberspace,” Karadi said.
"So far, and hopefully it stays that way, we have managed to fend off attacks on critical infrastructure," he said.
While Karadi confirmed that defenses have successfully protected critical national infrastructure from major breaches.
As per the senior security official, the companies with weak security systems were hardly hit, leading to wiping out the whole information following cyber penetrations.
However, Iran has always denied carrying our nefarious hacking operation and cyber attacks against Israel and other countries. In fact, the Iranian authorities also claimed that their systems have been attacked in cyber warfare.
