PMLN leader terms verdict an attack on democratic system
"There is no reason for the Supreme Court decision, nor is there any logic,” says Tariq Fazal Chaudhry
DUBAI: Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) senior leader Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has termed the Supreme Court decision an effective attack on the democratic system.
Speaking to The News in Dubai, he expressed his frustration and disbelief over the court ruling.
“There is no reason for the Supreme Court decision, nor is there any logic,” Fazal said, emphasising the perceived irrationality of the verdict.
“The decision is unconstitutional,” he asserted, criticising inclusion of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) in political equation. “The Sunni Ittehad Council does not exist in Parliament,” he added.
Dr Chaudhry argued that allocation of special seats to a party without presence in parliament undermines the electoral process. “Special seats are being given to a party that does not have a seat in the parliament,” he pointed out, referring to the PTI-backed SIC candidates. “We will challenge these decisions that lack rationality and proper judgment,” he declared.
Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry attended a luncheon, given by the PMLN UAE chapter in Dubai, along with other party leaders.
