SWABI: Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday promised to take up the issues faced by the people of Swabi district with the federal government.
He held out the assurance in a meeting with the members of the Swabi Action Committee. The committee members, led by Salim Khan and Nadeem Shah Bacha met with him at the Governor House, Peshawar.
The governor said all issues related to the federal government would be discussed and the committee members would be informed about the progress soon.He said it was part of the manifesto of the Pakistan People’s Party to provide 300 free units to every family where the power was produced and that he would discuss this problem with officials concerned.
The governor said he would take up with the KP chief secretary the issue of law and order, the killing of the people and drug menace in Swabi. The governor agreed with the members of the committee that KP generated more electricity than its requirements, but despite that was facing prolonged power loadshedding.
He was happy with the composition of the Swabi Action Committee as people from different political parties and organizations had come together on one platform for achieving the rights of the people.
Earlier, Salim Khan informed the governor that the Tarbela Dam produced 4,888 MW of power but still Swabi faced heavy electricity loadshedding which, he said, was not acceptable to the people of the district.
