MANSEHRA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) has accused the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz of making false propaganda against the JUIF ideology and central leadership.

“The defeat of PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif and triumph of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf aspirant Shahzada Gustasap Khan in NA-15 is a result of our political strategy,” JUIF leader Mufti Kifayatullah told a presser here on Saturday.

Flanked by other JUIF leaders, he said that he had contested the Feb 8 general elections in NA-15 by the order of his party’s central emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman against PMLN supremo Nawaz Sharif.

“My party’s head Maulana Fazlur Rehman personally fielded me in the elections to defeat Sharif in Mansehra’s constituency and I followed his order in letter and spirit,” Kifayatullah said.

He said that his party’s ideology was completely different from that of PMLN.

“We are committed to the enforcement of Shariah in the country through a peaceful political struggle,” the JUIF leader said.

He said that PMLN was using retired captain Mohammad Safdar, the son-in-law of Nawaz Sharif, to challenge his party’s ideology and mission to avenge the former premier’s defeat in NA-15.

“PMLN has never remained popular in the NA-15 constituency stretching over to the rural parts of Mansehra and neighbouring Torghar district and it was me who secured over 53,000 votes in the general elections held in 2018,” Kifayatullah said.

The JUIF leader said that Safdar couldn’t suffer his father-in-law’s defeat in the elections and instead of searching for reasons behind Sharif’s failure, he was involved in his and his leadership’s character assassination.

“Our party has been engaged in a political war against the country’s biggest riggings in the 2024 elections, which paved the way for the installation of a PMLN-led government in the centre,” Kifayatullah claimed.
