LAHORE:The Department of Medical Lab Technology (MLT) of the University of Okara (UO) organised a seminar on ‘Advancements in MLT for Diagnosis of Disease Treatment’ on Friday.
The experts from medical field discussed the role of MLT in timely and accurate diagnosis and treatment of various diseases during the seminar. Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Javaid Akhtar was the patron-in-chief of the seminar, the Pro VC Prof Dr M Wajid chaired the event while Dr Sabiha Abbas, Assistant Prof and Dr Salman Latif, Lecturer at MLT were the organizers of the seminar. The speakers advised the students to conduct research on various diseases and their varying symptoms so that doctors could prescribe accurate treatments. The lab personnel had very crucial role in ensuring proper treatment of patients, they said.
The speakers included Dr Ihsan Elahi, Medical Superintendent at DHQ Okara, Dr Umar Anwar, President Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Okara, Dr Jawad Tayyab, Vice President of PMA, Dr Abdul Aziz Khalid, General Secretary of PMA, Dr Moaviya Hussnain, President of Young Doctors Association (YDA) Okara, Dr Noman Nawaz from YDA, Dr Osama Anwar, General Secretary of YDA, Dr Mubashar Iqbal, Vice Chairman of YDA, Dr Awais Malik, Vice President of YDA, Ali Ijaz, a medical expert, Dr Sajjad Sarwar, Assistant Professor at Department of Zoology, Assistant Director Anti-Corruption Rana Asif and Kaleem Ullah. Dr Wajid, in his address vowed to make the MLT department a hub of innovative research. He also presented shields to the VC and other guests.
