ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday chaired an extraordinary meeting of government’s spokespersons which mainly discussed the media strategy and its implementation in an effective way.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Law Azam Nazir Tarar, Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik, Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaisar Mahmood Shaikh and Senior Minister of Punjab Marriyum Aurangzeb attended the meeting. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari participated through video link from Lahore.
The meeting discussed a proposal to increase the strength of spokespersons and matters relating to effective response to opposition’s narrative. The participants of the meeting also consulted counter narrative, timely response to opposition’s propaganda and media strategy.
The prime minister decided to appoint spokespersons in their respective fields at federal and provincial levels to defend the government’s policies and views.
The spokespersons, who would include both senior leaders and new faces, would also attend television programmes. It was also decided that a close coordination between spokespersons at federal and provincial levels would also be maintained. The meeting also approved a comprehensive strategy with regard to social media.
