LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) has called the parliamentary board meeting of the party today (February 21) to finalise the government formation in Punjab.
Party sources said the PMLN supremo, who was in Murree, may come back for the meeting and if not, he will address the meeting via video link. The meeting will be held in Jati Umrah under the chairmanship of Maryam Nawaz who was nominated as the first female chief minister of Punjab.
Party sources said there will be consultation on government formation, selection of speaker and deputy speaker in the meeting, while all the newly-elected members of Punjab Assembly of Muslim League (N) have been instructed to attend the meeting.
Party sources said that all the independents, who joined the PMLN, have also submitted their affidavits in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in this regard.
A senior PMLN leader claimed that after adding the reserved seats, the party’s number in Punjab Assembly has reached around 200 members.
The PMLN leader further said that the party has so far not revealed the name of speaker and deputy speaker and cabinet members.
“It all depends on the PMLN’s negotiations with the PPP in formation of central government,” the PMLN leader said, adding the PMLN may accommodate some PPP members in Punjab and that was why the names of speaker, deputy speaker and cabinet were kept secret.
