After resolving dispute with leasing company: Second PIA plane reaches Pakistan from Jakarta
According to PIA officials, the technical inspection of 17-year-old aircraft was ongoing in Jakarta for two weeks
LAHORE: The second PIA plane stuck in Indonesia’s capital Jakarta also reached Pakistan after two years.
At 3pm special flight PK-9897 from Jakarta arrived in Bangkok where after refueling the aircraft traveled to Karachi. Earlier, after an ongoing dispute with the leasing company since September 2021 was resolved in October last year, the first aircraft returned to the country in December 2023, which is now operational in the PIA fleet.
According to PIA officials, the technical inspection of 17-year-old aircraft was ongoing in Jakarta for two weeks. With the addition of the aircraft to PIA’s fleet, the number of Airbus aircraft has increased to 16. Since September 2021, both PIA aircraft have been stuck in Jakarta due to a dispute with the leasing company. PIA paid $13 million in October 2023 after negotiations to settle a financial dispute with the leasing company AirAsia. This aircraft will be refurbished in Karachi.
