Lawyers to strike against decision to shift Lahore’s civil courts
LAHORE: Lawyers have announced a two-day strike against the decision to shift Lahore’s civil courts from Aiwan-e-Adal to Model Town.
The lawyers announced a boycott of the subordinate courts, demanding that the notification for shifting the civil courts from Aiwan-e-Adal to Model Town be withdrawn. According to details, a general house meeting of the Lahore Bar Association was held under the chairmanship of newly elected president Munir Hussain Bhatti, and a large number of lawyers attended it. The meeting also announced a boycott of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday (today) and Thursday (tomorrow). Bhatti said during the meeting that lawyers have been protesting for a month but to no avail. Moving the civil courts from the Lower Mall sessions court to Model Town would cause severe inconvenience to the public and lawyers. Due to the lawyers’ strike, no hearing could be held in the subordinate sessions and civil courts.
