Strengthening healthcare: CPSP sets up centre at Mansehra hospital

MANSEHRA: The College of Physicians and Surgical Pakistan (CPSP) has established its centre at the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital (KATH).

“This is a great honour for this only tertiary healthcare facility in the upper parts of Hazara that the CPSP has established its centre which is one of the major steps being taken to provide standard healthcare facilities in the division,” Dr Shahzad Ali Khan, the medical superintendent of KATH briefed told the visiting delegation of CPSP on Monday.

The CPSP delegation led by its Vice-President Dr Shoaib Shafee and Regional Director Jehangir Khan visited the KATH and praised the facility’s healthcare services to patients from upper parts of Hazara.

The heads of different medical, surgical and skin departments and senior doctors were also present.“We have recently received over Rs6 billion high-tech surgical, medical machines and equipment from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which matched our healthcare services to the country’s mega-hospital,” Dr Shahzad told the visiting delegation.

He said that the KATH had become the only public health facility across the Hazara division where 13 dialysis machines had been installed.Dr Shahzad said that the bedding capacity of the health facility hads been increased to 350 from 250 following the 2005 devastating earthquake and it would be enhanced gradually.

“We attend patients moved here from Kohistan, Battagram and neighbouring Torghar district,” Dr Shahzad said.“Our services for patients and doctors would go up with the establishment of the CPSP centre here,” he said.
