MCCI presidents seek measures to address furniture dealers’ issues

MARDAN: President of Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and provincial general secretary of Markaze Tanzeem-e-Tajiran, Zahir Shah, Saturday emphasised on the role played by the furniture industry in the country’s economic development and urged measures to address the issues faced by business owners.

At the inauguration ceremony of a furniture showroom on Eidgah Road, Zahir Shah stressed the need to create opportunities for the growth and investment of the furniture industry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

He highlighted the significance of the Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a vital platform, and announced the imminent availability of Computer Numerical Control Router (CNC) machines for the local furniture business community in Mardan district.

He said the CNC Router features diverse wood carving designs and functionalities across 31 machine types, aiming to provide substantial relief to both the furniture trading community and the associated workforce.

Mardan, being the second-largest city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has around 20,000 workers affiliated with the furniture business. Zahir Shah expressed confidence that the sector’s growth would contribute positively to the local economy.

Acknowledging the challenges faced by the business community in the current economic climate, he said it was important to foster a business-friendly environment and called on the government to promptly address the issues hindering the business sector.
