CHARSADDA: Speakers at a seminar on Tuesday said that Pakistan could become a safest country and a strong economy and commercial hub if the National Action Plan (NAP) implemented in letter and spirit.
The awareness seminar titled “National Action Plan and the hurdles to its implementation” was held at the Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, (BKUC).Vice-Chancellor Meritorious Prof Bashir Ahmad and expert on defence affairs Faizur Rahman were the chief guests on the occasion while faculty members and students attended the seminar.
The seminar organised by the BKUC’s Department of Political Science and Directorate of Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) was meant to apprise the participants of the importance of NAP for the country and nation and the steps being taken for its implementation by the government.
The speakers said that NAP was devised after thorough research and threadbare discussions by all the stakeholders following the massacre in the Army Public School, Peshawar, to bring a lasting peace to the country.
They said that peace will be restored and the economy will be flushed if the NAP was fully implemented. They also pinpointed various hurdles to its implementation, including illegal and unauthorized transactions of finances, lack of coordination among the government and state institutions, non-effective police system in the merged areas and stay of illegal immigrants.
The speakers claimed that the country could be purged of terrorism, militancy and other crimes if the people ensured cooperation with the law enforcing agencies.
