Gallantry medals conferred on KP police force
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakh-tunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani on Wednesday conferred gallantry medals on the 21 police officers and jawans who sacrificed lives fighting against terrorists.
The Qauid-e-Azam Police Medals (QPM) and President’s Police Medal (PPM) were awarded to 21 police officers and jawans in recognition of their meritorious services in the line of duty in the ongoing war against terror.
The Police Department had recommended the names of various police officers and jawan in the year 2012-13 to the provincial government. The provincial government sent the names to the centre for approval of President Mamnoon Hussain.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Nasir Khan Durrani paid rich tributes to the unprecedented sacrifices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police in the war against terror. He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police’s gallantry acts were matchless in the whole world.
The IGP said without proper recognition of the sacrifices of police shuhada and ghazis, the country cannot achieve the zenith of success. He added the provincial government would be approached with the request to arrange similar medals at the provincial level in recognition of the services of the police martyrs.
